if you have to say “this isn’t hard, people” in an exasperated tone, that probably means that it IS hard for at least one of the people you’re addressing. and you are choosing to disregard them rather than explain the concept in a way that everyone can understand.

it’s okay if you, yourself, find it hard to explain something in simpler or different terms! when different people have different limited sets of language, or limited frames of reference, it’s inevitable that those sets will fail to overlap sometimes, or clash uncomfortably. in that case, it’s best to own up to your difficulty. if you can’t explain it more simply, just say so, and find someone else to translate or mediate discussion.

alternatively: occasionally, someone will say “this isn’t hard, people” when they really mean “it frightens me that you might not understand this,” or “I suspect you are being willfully ignorant rather than genuinely confused”. in these cases, it’s better to just say what you mean.
